Slideways manufactures flange bearings in the following materials
UHMW

Ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene is outstanding for the flange bearings and other machine components. It is characterized by its low coefficient of friction and excellent resistance to wear. It resists corrosive chemicals, except for oxidizing acids, and does not absorb moisture. It is very effective when used in flange bearings because it prevents metal-to-metal contact.

Wood

Lubricant filled wood is very effective when used in flange bearings and other linear applications. It is made with the highest quality hard rock maple and completely impregnated with lubricants. Finished flange bearings are chemical and moisture resistant because the wood is completely filled with a special lubricant, leaving no room for contaminants.

NylaSlide

This material is the result of adding molybdenum disulfide to nylon 6. It is very wear resistant and has a lower coefficient of friction than unfilled Nylon. NylaSlide can operate continuously at 225° F, and resists heat distortion up to 300° F.

Custom profile machined flange bearings

Custom machining flange bearings allows our customers to avoid the sometimes, expensive prices and high minimum runs of extruded flange bearings. Machined profile flange bearings are most effective for prototype and short-run applications. They can also be made to closer tolerances then extruded flange bearings.

Plastic extruded wheel bearings

Plastic extrusion is the process forcing or pressing a material out through a die. The plastic is melted and mixed in a molten state in a heated barrel then extruded through the die. The material is then pulled by a haul-off through a cooling trough, where it solidifies and then is coiled or in the case of flange bearing production cut to length.
